TMG honored by Business Journal for philanthropic efforts

Top Corporate Philanthropists 2015The Meltzer Group prides itself on giving back to the community – through both monetary donations, and volunteer work. The results of our work are felt by many. In 2015, TMG donated $1.47 million overall and that figure ranks The Meltzer Group as the #2 Corporate Philanthropist among Midsize Companies (100 – 999 employees) in the D.C. region, as named by the Washington Business Journal. In addition, The Meltzer Group ranks #11 among Midsize Companies in metro-area volunteer hours with 1,150.

The Meltzer Group’s total of $1.47 million donated includes $1.32 million in metro-area giving alone. This marks the second consecutive year TMG has ranked in the top-two in corporate philanthropy and the fifth straight year it’s ranked among the top-20.

Bill Parsons, the Executive Director of JDRF’s Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter, has seen the impact The Meltzer Group’s philanthropic efforts have made first-hand. “We are on the precipice of delivering some truly transformational breakthroughs for the T1D community, and The Meltzer Group has played a pivotal role in making that possible. They are in every sense a high impact corporate citizen and I congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition.”

With this latest ranking, The Meltzer Group wrapped up 2015 ranked among the top three Employee Benefits Brokers ($38 million in metro area revenue), the top two Corporate Philanthropists among Mid-Size Companies, and among the top three Insurance Brokers ($38 million in metro area revenue) as named by the Washington Business Journal.

“We truly enjoy giving back to the community through donations of our time and money,” explained CEO Alan Meltzer. “We understand we have a responsibility when it comes to being charitable and I couldn’t be more proud of the fact that our employees embrace this and really live it, each and every single day.”

He added, “This is part of our culture here at The Meltzer Group. We want to help people, whether it’s conducting a holiday food drive, donating money to purchase school supplies for underprivileged children, or even just staying late at the office to help a client with an issue that comes up. We know we’re in a position to help others and we feel like we can make a positive impact.”
