Philanthropy

People often refer to a company’s “culture.” It is the intangible life force that drives a company forward and the common thread that is woven throughout even the smallest of daily tasks. The Meltzer Group is a culture of giving. Whether we volunteer at local children’s charities during the holidays, participate in school supply drives to provide for those who can’t afford the basics, or work late nights and weekends to help a client solve a problem – each act, big or small, community related or client focused, is in the spirit of giving. As such, we place a high priority on giving back to our community through donations of our time and money. In 2014 and 2015, The Meltzer Group ranked among the top-two midsize companies (100-999 employees) in the Washington Metropolitan area in terms of local philanthropic giving as named by the Washington Business Journal.

The Meltzer Employee Giving Fund

Motivated by the example of our founder, Alan Meltzer, employees created The Meltzer Group Employee Giving Fund in 2005. Since then, The Meltzer Group has made annual donations to area nonprofits. Each year, the Steering Committee surveys employees to decide on the Fund’s focus. Funded by voluntary employee gifts matched by management, The Meltzer Group Employee Giving Fund is the employee’s unique and creative way to give back to the community. Currently, more than 80% of The Meltzer Group’s employees contribute to the giving fund. Since its inception, the fund has distributed over $360,000 to nonprofit organizations.

In a community of generous people, Alan Meltzer, his family and The Meltzer Group stand out for their consistent, magnanimous support. Not only do they make Food and Friends’ program of medically-appropriate nutrition possible through financial contributions, but they also lend their time to help feed our clients, who are living with life-challenging illness. We applaud Alan, his family and The Meltzer Group for their commitment to bringing hope to the lives of the people we serve.”
